Bidenism is an ideology based on former American president, Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden Jr. Bidenism is economically and civically moderate and culturally center-left, representing a very typical form of modern Democratism. He believes in a moderately progressive agenda promoted through gradual reform, and has an intense hatred of Donald Trump.

History

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was born in 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to a wealthy Catholic family of mostly Irish descent. However, due to business setbacks and a lack of steady work, his family moved to Delaware in 1953, and somewhat recovered financially. Biden went to the University of Delaware, where graduated in 1965 with a bachelor's degree double majoring in history and political science. He married his first wife, Syracuse University student Neilia Hunter, in 1966, and they eventually had 3 children together - Joseph III ("Beau"), Hunter, and Naomi. He studied at the Syracuse University College of Law, and despite relatively poor grades, he earned a Juris Doctor in 1968, and passed the Delaware bar in 1969, practicing law for a few years. In 1972, he ran as a Democrat for a seat on the United States Senate against incumbent Republican J. Caleb Boggs and won, becoming one of the youngest senators in US history at the time. Shortly after this, his wife Neilia and daughter Naomi died in a car crash at the hands of a drunk truck driver.

In his early years of being a senator, he focused on consumer protection and the environment, and helped negotiate the SALT II treaty between the US and USSR. In a 1974 interview, he described himself as liberal on civil rights and liberties, senior citizens' concerns and healthcare, but conservative on other issues, including abortion and military conscription. He was a Democratic floor manager for the successful passage of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act in 1984. He later supported the banning of homosexual personnel in the military in 1993, as well as the 1994 crime bill, which led to further increased mass incarceration, though he later expressed regret for it. He voted for the Violence Against Women Act of 1994, which put $1.6 billion in federal funding towards investigation and prosecution of violent crimes against women. He voted for the Defence of Marriage Act in 1996, prohibiting the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages, and he would maintain a similar stance in the 2008 presidential election. In the Senate, he was a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He stayed in the Senate for most of his career.

In 2008, Joe Biden ran for president, lost the Democratic primaries to senator Barack Obama, and was picked as Obama's Vice President nominee. The Obama-Biden ticket won the election, defeating Republicans John McCain and Sarah Palin, entering office in 2009. As VP, Biden's primary role was promoting Obama's domestic agenda. Biden would remain VP until Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election and took office in 2017.

Biden ran for president again in 2020, with senator Kamala Harris as his running mate, and won, becoming the 46th president of the United States, though this result remains contested by many Trump supporters to this day. Under his presidency, Biden oversaw the messy withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, for which he was criticized. The US also experienced record high inflation rates, gas prices, and supply chain issues. He also passed several trillion-dollar spending bills, and has sent large amounts of aid to Ukraine in the Russo-Ukraine War. In the Israel-Palestine conflict, Biden was initially quite pro-Israel, but later moderated his positions and called for cease-fire. Domestically, Biden has generally presented himself more progressively than his track record as a senator, supporting abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, and workers' unions, with some supporters calling him the most progressive president in US history. He has maintained a relatively pro-police, tough-on-crime stance.

In his 2024 re-election campaign against challenger Donald Trump, he performed very poorly on the first debate against Republican challenger Donald Trump, and after advice from many Democrats, he eventually decided to drop out of the election. He endorsed a new campaign from his VP Kamala Harris and her running mate, governor Tim Walz, just 3 months away from Election Day. Trump won the election, and Biden left office in 2025.

Bidenism has the personality of Joe Biden. He is usually portrayed as a man of the people, and the sweet old (sometimes creepy) uncle/grandpa of American politics. He likes to compromise and appeal to everyone, emphasizing the importance of a united America. As president, due to dementia, he often acts aloof and forgets things.
