Black Conservatism is an ideology rooted in communities of African descent that aligns largely with conservative thought around the world. Black Conservatism emphasizes traditionalism, patriotism, self-sufficiency, and strong cultural conservatism within the context of black churches. In the
United States, it is often, but not exclusively, associated with the
Republican Party.

Haile Selassie I was Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974. Prior to his coronation, he had been the Regent Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia from 1916. He is a defining figure in modern Ethiopian history, and the key figure of Rastafari, a religious movement in Jamaica. His administration defended Ethiopia from
Italian occupation and was one of the few uncolonized African countries by the time of World War 2.

Black Zionism
Black Zionism is divided between groups of Ethiopians who have been
Jewish for many years, and American movements like the Black Israelites who claim to be ethnically Jewish. Of the two, Ethiopian black Zionists are more well regarded by the Jewish community, while fringe movements like the Black Israelites are seen as usurpers if not outright
anti-semites.
Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni is a Ugandan politician who has been President of Uganda since 1986. He is an
authoritarian conservative. Museveni was involved in rebellions that toppled Ugandan leaders
Idi Amin and
Milton Obote before he captured power in the 1980s. Even though he replaced the former dictatorial government of Idi Amin, he has maintained power consistently, leading to accusations of dictatorship.
While Uganda has maintained a generally friendly relationship with the US under Museveni, they banned
Twitter for reasons of national security. Among these reasons were general suspicions of such platforms being used as espionage on the part of the US.
Museveni has also been known for his
opposition to homosexuality, calling gay people "deviants" and signing a bill in 2023 criminalizing all same-sex activity in Uganda, with punishment up to death penalty.
Martin Ssempa (born 1968) is a Ugandan
charismatic pastor, activist, and the founder of the Makerere Community Church.
Known for his extreme
anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, Ssempa first came to international prominence in 2010, after he made a press conference in support of Uganda's notorious Anti-Homosexuality Bill at his church, in which his depiction of alleged sexual acts of homosexuals (most notably coprophilia and fisting) and his screening of gay pornography, went viral on the internet. This, alongside some other sermons has subsequently became an internet meme known as
"Eat Da Poo Poo".
He also gained notoriety for his appearance on an episode of the
breakfast TV program Morning Breeze (the same episode as the "Why are you gae?" meme), alongside the
trans activist Pepe Julian Onziema. In the show, Ssempa misgendered Onziema by using fruits and vegetables to demonstrate various sexual acts he described as "sodomy" while ranting in English and Luganda. He has become known as "the Pasta" or "Pasta Senpai" in these memes.
Modern black conservatism in the US is strongly associated with a growing shift of party affiliations among African-Americans from the
Democratic Party to the
Republican Party from the 2010s to the present, despite black voters still overwhelmingly favoring the Democratic Party overall to this day.
There are many reasons some African-Americans have been shifting to the Republican Party. Some are disillusioned with the current condition of the Democratic Party and its
shift away from economic populism, while some blame systems like the
welfare state for making the black community overdependent on the government. Perceived
elitism and
racism from Democrats, such as when
Joe Biden commented that black people undecided between him and
Donald Trump for the 2020 presidential election "ain't black", has also slightly contributed to this shift.
While not sharing the often
socialist economic views of earlier proponents of
black nationalism, such as the
Black Panthers, they do agree with some of the ideas and goals of such movements for black communities, like
self-sufficiency,
mutual aid, and
encouraging entrepreneurship.

Personality
Black conservatism can be described as a proclaimed virtuious
christian man who speaks with a 50s folk accent and likes to attend churches on sunday. He believes
traditionalism should always triumph as the moral ideology of his fellow
African(-American) men, and that "progressive" elements in the black community like drug use, prostitution, rap/hip-hop, crime, "thug culture" etc, are foul and satanic plagues which gives him second-hand embarrassment. He likes sitting home listening to jazz, gospel, and blues with a cup of pure coffee from the local store.
