Colonialism is an ideology or policy which implements the creation of colonies, sometimes to expand a nation's or empire's territory. It is often used interchangeably with Imperialism.

Types of Colonialism

1. Corporate Colonialism - Involves a king giving land grants to companies to form colonies. Usually joint-stock companies, investors enriched themselves with a share of the profits.

1. Proprietary Colonialism - Involves a king to grant land to a proprietor or proprietors for full ownership of a colony and the right to govern the land.

1. Royal Colonialism - A colony controlled by a monarchal head. No laws are approved without permission from the monarchy. This one is the most like Imperialism and exhibits the least freedom.

Personality

Colonialism is portrayed as a white settler from the early 16th century who navigates around the world in hopes of finding resources and settling the land. Unlike Imperialism, who is more of a warmongering emperor, Colonialism is a Christian missionary or merchant who seeks to spread the values and religion among Indigenous peoples, initially claiming seeking peace and cooperation. However he won't hesitate to show his true side and massacre them when they get in his way.
